Many people have watched the film ‘The Secret’ and after feeling motivated and positive have diligently followed the advice given by the teachers in the documentary. However, very few get the results they were aiming for. Why is this? Ok, so if the law of attraction really does exist and is working every minute of everyday why can’t you get it to work for you? Are you in some way different? Do you think the rules of the universe do not apply to you? Of course not! It does, however, feel that way most of the time.

The problem with your inability to get any real tangible results from using techniques designed to utilize the law of attraction is not with the law itself but rather your understanding of it!

The problem really lies with documentaries like ‘The Secret’ because they do not give you the full story. In fact they withhold the greatest secret of all!

The reason why you do not get the results you want from the law of attraction is due almost entirely to your unconscious thoughts. The truth is there are a multitude, (thousands if not millions), of unconscious programs running around in your head like rogue computer programs in a computer system. Your subconscious programs are your beliefs. If these programs are in direct conflict with your conscious desires then these desires can never manifest in your life.

Even if you are lucky enough to use the law of attraction to bring a few of your desires to you, your subconscious programs will quickly ensure they are taken away again! Sound familiar?

We have all had the experience of getting unexpected money just to have it sucked up on bills or other expenses so that we never really get to enjoy it! This is a perfect example of subconscious programming sabotaging our lives.

These negative subconscious beliefs run in the background noise of our minds and are often so subtle that we are not even aware they exist. These subconscious programs are like viruses that infect a computer. Just like a computer your mind is being hindered by these viruses – your negative beliefs. Negative subconscious beliefs literally mess with the operating system of your mind!

You do need to make the effort to find tehse negative subconscious programs. However, once you identify them it is relatively easy to remove them. Once you are aware that you have a negative belief often this is enough to eliminate it as you see the futility and errorneous nature of it!

If you can find and remove your own unconscious beliefs i.e. those negative beliefs and feelings that are in conflict with your desires, then you would find the things that you want in life would just drop into your lap! The law of attraction would work effortlessly for you because all you have to do is think about what you want without any negative thoughts creeping in and you would immediately begin to attract it to you!

If you take the time to observe your everyday thinking, you will soon identify your negative subconscious programs and begin removing them. Then through the natural course of the law of attraction all those things you now desire will begin to come your way.

You may be thinking:

What do you mean “what do I want money for???!”

…What do I not want money for!!!? …I want money for everything!

This is typical of the kind of answer that only half-jokingly blurts out of most people’s mouths when I ask them what they want money for. But, I really DO want to know the answer – the answer is essential to being able to manifest money!

…I don’t want to know the answer just to hear why someone thinks they need money, I want to know what they really dream, yearn, crave and long to do with the stuff!

You see, having a firm grasp on your fondest money dreams is the only real key to manifest money. The Law of Attraction requires that you get your heart straightened out where money is involved… So that you are thinking about your favorite dreams and feel excited when you think about money – and not frightened, worried, or anxious!

Can you feel the difference in the tone of these two answers to the “What do you want money FOR?” question:I want to pay off the credit-card bills, pay-down the maxed-out home equity loan, and have enough left over to be able to move out of this tiny messy house. I need to pay a bunch of bills and I don’t know where the money is coming from.I want to move-in to a really beautiful, fun, spacious home near the water – to really live-it-up in a luxurious town home by the marina, or by a lake, where I can go for long walks and feel like I am still near nature even though we are in the city! I want to have a pool and a Jacuzzi, and game room, and to be able to buy some gorgeous new furniture to round out the new dcor to go with our brand new place. And I want to entertain; I want to host events and have fun parties for our friends!The first one doesn’t feel very fun does it? It’s kind of sad and dreary, and the “mood” of it focuses more on what is NOT wanted (worry, dread, cramped, frustrated) than on what IS wanted. That is not very “attractive” is it? If you were involved in a conversation in which someone was saying those same statements to you (even if you agreed), it wouldn’t feel like a very uplifting and inspiring conversation would it?

Money is an ENERGY – money is the fuel that our society uses to keep activity moving. We are paid for our work in money, and then we use money to buy things and services, paying others for them – it’s a big, continuous cycle. …As an energy, money is attracted to the same kind of energy that might attract YOU to a conversation with somebody. You don’t want to go talk to someone who is dull, stale, sad, and boring – you want to talk to somebody who is fun, dynamic, friendly, interesting – someone who is doing things!

Money likes to have fun; it does not like to be bored! It wants to participate in the coolest things you can dream of doing with it – it wants to help you build your dreams! But, that again brings us back to the question: “What do you want money FOR?” …Knowing WHY you want it (and being TRULY excited about that why) is the key! The Law of Attraction brings you the manifestations that match your own passion and enthusiasm!

…The MOST important thing to do to manifest money is to get squarely focused on WHY you want to attract the money; on all the GREAT and FUN things you want to do with it! When you can keep yourself excited about that, knowing that the money IS on its way to you to make ALL of that possible, then it WILL be so very soon!

Would you like to be able to experience more of what brings you joy in your life? Do you have unmet wants and desires that have left you feeling unfulfilled in some areas of your life? Were you taught that it is our desires that make us unhappy? Whoever taught us that desire is a bad thing was an unempowered person!

Desire is a beautiful thing! It is desire that birthed this world, and it is desire that draws us together to create new life, both physically and metaphysically.

Imagine for a moment that you have a genie in a bottle, or a secret potion or wand that, that gives you the power to zap into being more of what you wish for. The truth is, it doesn’t take a genie in a bottle, a magic wand or a secret potion, although these are fun ‘reminders’ of the awesome power that we hold! We are Divine Beings!

The Bible says we are made “in the image of God” and that ‘what we reap we sowed.’ This means we, like God, are creators! I’ve heard it said that God helps those who help themselves. We must learn how to help ourselves by co-creating, along with God, that which we desire by developing faith and applying focused thought. The best way to pray then is affirmatively, to visualize what we desire as if it is already in our experience, and to give thanks in advance, knowing that what we need and desire is available to us. To pray effectively, we pray affirmatively. A powerful prayer is one of gratitude. The more we count our blessings, the more blessings come to us. Our thoughts and prayers really do create our experiences!

Another way of saying this is to use creative visualization. Creative visualization is the technique of using our imagination to create more of what we want in life. I’ve heard some people say, ‘I can’t do that, I don’t visualize anything!’ There is nothing woo woo about it. You are already using visualization techniques every day – every time you think about what to have for lunch or what you might want to do over the weekend, or even while remembering a special person in your life, you are using your creative imagination! Visualization is the basic creative energy of the universe, which we use constantly, whether or not we aware of it. When we aren’t aware it is called creating by default. When we are setting conscious intentions, we are deliberately co-creating with God, or the Universe.

You may have heard the saying, ‘Thoughts are things.’ Our thoughts, beliefs and feelings are real! They are alive with the spiritual substance that makes up this world. Our thoughts are energized and powerful. Everything we experience in “reality” has its beginnings in the non-physical. Every thought we think is a seed and every time we think the same thought over again, we water that seed. When we think thoughts filled with emotion, we fertilize those thoughts. The more intense our desire, and the degree to which we believe it is possible, the more likely it is to come into our experience and the faster it will manifest. The law of the soil and the law of the mind are the same.

The world is filled with evidence that supports our beliefs. In other words, optimists are confirmed in their optimism, and pessimists are confirmed in their habits of thought also. An optimist expects things to work out somehow, and because they give their attention to what they do want with expectancy, this is what manifests in their experience. The pessimist, on the other hand, generally also creates what they habitually worry about. When pessimists learn how to alter their expectations and beliefs, they too can more deliberately create what they are wanting in life.

I truly believe that everything works towards our highest good, we just need to trust the Universal Laws working through us and use our experiences to expand our consciousness. Let’s use the Law of Attraction to make the world a more joyful and loving place!

Quantum physics, spirituality, brainwaves, manifesting…

These are all very scary words that make most of the people turn their backs to the person who is speaking about them. Let’s face it: these are some weird words right there.

But why are they really that scary?

It may be because we hear them every day. It may be because we are afraid other people might think we’re weird if we talked like that.

Here’s what I think it is that make people walk away from applying the law of attraction to their lives:

We are addicted to our struggle. There, I said it. Every day we fight hard to survive on this planet. We work extra hours, we work in weekends, and we sacrifice our time with the family just so that we can provide for them. We did this all our lives. And now, someone comes up to us and says: “You don’t have to struggle, you don’t have to work until you can’t keep your eyes open… all you have to do is learn about the law of attraction and take action when the universe tells you to.”

What do you think our subconscious goes ahead and assumes while we hear that? “I worked that hard for so long, and now you’re telling me I didn’t have to? I don’t think so. I’m happy right where I am right now. I have food to put on the table, I like my job, blah, blah, blah…” In our minds we are making all kinds of statements to convince ourselves not to make a change. That’s because our minds love solving problems. Why do you think complicated puzzles are called brain food? Life doesn’t have to be complicated; we just like it that way.

That leads us back to my first point. People like Bob Proctor, Joe Vitale, Lisa Nichols, Mike Dooley, John Assaraf and Michael Beckwith just to name a few have put together this theory in the movie The Secret which promises to give us the secret to success. But they make it sound a little more complicated than it really is, just so that they give our minds something to chew on while we hopefully stop rejecting the idea.

Even with those efforts in place, people will still be running away from their own prosperity by dismissing the law of attraction because of their pride, because of peer pressure, because of their beautiful minds…

Often, for some reason or the other, the step of the Deliberate Attraction formula that talks about “allowing” is the one where most people seem to trip over. This formula simply lists in 3 simple steps how we can leverage the Law of Attraction:

1) Be crystal clear about what you really DO want.
2) Remove doubts and fears so that your desires match your vibrations. Thus raise that internal vibration of yours.
3) Allow the real desires of your heart to come to you.

About the first 2 steps, a lot has been written. But the part about “allowing” desires is a bit elusive.

Let me share a personal experience about this kind of “allowing”. My eight inch waste-paper basket seemed to be overflowing every second day. So after an eternity of mental complaints, one day I asked myself, “What kind of basket do I want?”

I imagined a sleek and smart looking 15 inch high black colored basket that could hold a week’s trash and would look great with my other office accessories. Next I started collecting data on all types of wastepaper baskets available. I discovered a variety of baskets in a range of prices, all of which seemed to have some flaw or the other.

So after weeks of this researching, I said to myself, “Let it go, the right one will eventually show up”. Well, believe it or not, but it did.

I was making a purchase at the Hudson Bay Store, when I thought of cashing in on some reward points of mine. So, when I reached the fifth floor reception, right there across the isle I saw my ideal black wastepaper basket. It had all I wanted in terms of features, finishing and material used and to top it all it was within my gift certificate range. However one look at the basket and the clerk at the counter told me that it was on sale and cost just $5.00. In utter disbelief I paid cash and saved my gift certificate.

My elation at that moment can only be imagined. Not only did I save money, also, the manner in which the exact desire of my heart had come true was miraculous.

The age old adage that says: “Let go, let God” is what the “allowing” is all about. Thus the Law of Attraction brings you your desires once you start allowing it. Allowing should never be mistaken to mean second best. Rather it means letting or allowing Law of Attraction so that it may bring you your exact desire and in the best possible way.

You just need to believe that the Law of Attraction will bring your desire to you at the right time and place.

If you have enough free time to read this article, there are indeed things that must be going well for you. You likely have access to a computer; you probably have a roof over your head and food in the refrigerator. All of these things are gifts in your life for which you can be thankful.

Take some time each morning and list all the things in your life that you appreciate. This process allows for the free-flow of positive vibrations. When you are feeling good and your emotions are positive and thankful, the Universe will provide more wonderful things in your life for you to appreciate. You can change your life and experience a great deal of empowerment through the simple procedure of keeping a gratitude journal.
